XI Tianyang is Associate Professor of Political Economy at the National School of Development at Peking University. He received his MA in Economics from Fudan University, and PhD in Political Science from New York University. His research areas are political economy, comparative politics, economic history, and institutional economics. He writes on topics of bureaucratic accountability, meritocracy and political selection, and conflicts resolution.
