ISSCAD Faculty Recruitment 2023

The Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) was initiated and announced by Chinese President XI Jinping during the High-Level Roundtable on South-South Cooperation at the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the United Nations in New York on September 26, 2015. The mission of the Institute is to promote poverty reduction and fair, inclusive and sustainable development around the world through education and research. We impact the world by training students’ leadership skills, conducting cutting-edge research and promoting exchange and cooperation among countries.

Teaching and research at ISSCAD are interdisciplinary, with economics at the core and drawing input from political science, public administration and international relations. The central theme is national development. Combined with informative visits to localities across China and direct interaction with practitioners, our teaching and research strive to provide intellectual support for solutions to the development challenges facing the current world.

ISSCAD offers a Doctoral degree in National Development and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. Four concentrations are offered: Theoretical studies in National Development, National Development in China, Comparative Development, and Global Development. English is the working language for course work and thesis writing. The educational process nurtures students to broaden their knowledge base, sharpen their analytical skills, take a broad perspective on developmental issues and increase their ability of critical thinking.

Students are selected from mid- or high-career officials in China and other developing countries. From their current posts, over two hundred ISSCAD alumni are already having an impact in over forty countries and many international agencies.

The Institute is now offering several tenure-track positions at all levels in all fields, particularly in development economics and public economics. Experienced candidates are preferably welcome. Teaching will be conducted in English at graduate levels. All vacancies require a Ph.D. in social sciences, preferably in economics, political science or public policy. A normal teaching load of two courses, one of which should be compulsory at least, is required. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with respective qualifications and experiences.

Interested and qualified applicants should submit their Curriculum Vitae, representative papers/publications and three letters of reference online.
