Since 2009, well known thinkers and doers across various sectors of the society, from home and abroad gather at the beautiful city of Guiyang to exchange and explore issues on eco-civilization and sustainable development. The Eco Forum Global Guiyang (EFG) this year in 2017 is themed “Embracing the New Era of Eco Civilization and Let Green Growth Benefit All”. The essence of the symposium is to generate landmark ideas and promote the use of efficient and environmentally friendly sources of energy in a bid to switch from high carbon intensive economic growth model to the use of green-technologies-powered development which can be brought about by building universal consensus and cooperation between developed and developing countries.

Mr. ZHANG Xinsheng- Executive Chairman of Eco Forum Global highlighted that Eco-civilization is a century old dream, saying, “Mankind must pursue shared future while adopting sustainable development and growth models.”

The Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD), which has Climate Change and Sustainable Development as one of its major pillars, chaired a session at the sidelines of the symposium. Prof. Fu Jun, Academic Dean of the Institute moderated a session themed: "Preserving our Invaluable Asset of Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains with Institutional Powers”. Student Representatives of ISSCAD attened the event as well.

Prof. FU asserted that man must live in harmony with his environment, saying that the world’s finite resources must be explored and exploited in an efficient manner to promote sustainable development. He reiterated that ISSCAD will conduct research, generate vigorous thinking about the structure and pattern of green development. In this way, students will acquire better understanding of ecological, circular and low carbon economy to ensure favorable climate for all.
